The Mayor of Portsmouth appointed Chase Bailey, owner of Left Bank Films and writer/director of Crooked Lane, to the local board of Portsmouth Public Media, in charge of public access media in the area.
Congratulations, Chase!
Marc Dole, who handled VFX and Editing for Crooked Lane, and Chase Bailey are working on Marc’s daughters Alyssa and Ashley’s short film Deaf Perception together. Marc and Chase have also managed to get 52 other locals involved, many of whom are familiar cast and crew from Crooked Lane as well, making this both a family and a film family production.
There was a brief write up of the film in Seacoast Online, and you can follow the film’s Facebook page to see how the project develops.
In this portion of our interview, Crooked Lane producer Mark Constance talks about the difference between NH up front benefits to filmmakers versus the MA Film Tax Credit:
Crooked Lane will have two screenings at the Nevermore Film Festival in Durham, NC.
Writer/Director Chase Bailey will be in attendance for Q&A, as will representatives from Film POP!, Crooked Lane’s marketing team. We hope to see you there!

Chase Bailey is not just the writer and director behind Crooked Lane and the powerhouse behind Left Bank Films – he is also a talented artist.
He recently contributed to an artist’s tribute to the Dalai Lama. There is a lovely write-up of the exhibit by FIU here (with video). Chase is featured about 1 minute in.
We caught Chase on video and were able to get him to tell us more about his art in a previous post, or you can view at this link about Chase and his art on our Viddler channel. Enjoy!
We’ve been holding this one back for a while, but people are clamoring for it, so we’re finally releasing the Crooked Lane theme song for your enjoyment.
This song was recorded by Chase Bailey’s son Jesse Bailey and his band Pray For Mojo, based out of Santa Barbara, CA. You can see a bit more about the song’s history in this interview with Chase Bailey on Viddler and YouTube.
Enjoy!

We actually found this site and sites like it to be an interesting way to gauge audience reaction to a film pre-release, among other things. It could be a beneficial tool for the budding filmmaker, or filmmakers on a tight budget.
